Windows 7: 7 freezes while browsing Internet

not in QVL

Azure - I went to check the QVL for your motherboard. Your memory isn't listed, the list is surprisingly short. If you haven't done so already, as the next step I would try 1 Dimm a time.
With this method I could very easily identify my problem.

While I always recommended the brand in the past? Whenever I read about these crashes, it troubles me that very often ddr3 Corsair memory seems to be involved.

btw Windows 7 64bit is existing for one reason only: to be able to use more than 4 GB of RAM. You shouldn't doubt that ability.

Why we are checking settings in bios ? In my case there was win xp for some years running without any problems. Now on the same system without any mods there is running win 7 and those shutdowns are only now on the win7. So the problem is somewhere in drivers/updates or somthing..
And one more. I'm working on a lot of pc and notebooks with win7 running. But only the pc with win7 64bit is making those ... shutdowns.

I agree with your point Saru. But then... from all my close friends, not a single one is using an application that remotely cosumes more than 2 gig RAM - they just don't admit it. So why doesn't everybody stick to the less problematic 32bit OS and give all the developers 2 more years to let their 64bit drivers mature?
Troubleshooting PC problems can get so darn complicate. Especially after one bought as precious and expensive RAM as Azure did. I hope he can solve his issue some day. heads up everyone.

I wonder if putting in three out of the four modules in three different channels would solve the problem.

Edit: Changed the physical position of my RAM in my computer. Instead of having a total of four modules in two channels. I have three modules with one in each channel so I have three channels going at once. Leaving the fourth module out as a spare.

First power on has gone smoothly.

I'll come back in a weeks time to see if it is the true solution to my problem.

Problem Solved.

It's been almost a week and there have been no signs of the problem returning.

The VQL states that there is RAM being added to the market constantly, so the list cannot be constantly updated and is only a recommendation.

The real problem is you cannot have more than one dual sided RAM module in any given channel.

Thus I had to take out two of the four modules that were placed in only two channels. Positioned it so I had one module in each of the three channels I have. Leaving one spare and virtually useless. Plus knocking me back from 8 gig to 6 gig of RAM.

If I want more than 2 gig of RAM per channel that I have. I really have no choice but to wait for the 4 gig RAM modules to be become available and affordable on the market.

so, the problem is that win 7 can't use those modules on the same time? But how it can be, becouse now every ram module is dual sided and boards also are the same with two/two slots. - On my MB there also are two / two ram slots. So it means, that I only can use 1 on each side, leaving the other one on the same side empty - so ?

i just looked, i have 4 slots and 4 modules.. bad, i don't want to remove half of ram..

I found out from my shopkeeper that the Windows 7 that was installed on my PC was actually imaged onto my hard drive with all freeware software pre-loaded. Did a fresh install and the freezing on browsers is completely gone.
However, I still have 21 windows update pending and I haven't installed them cause I've seen people stating that the browser causes the whole PC to lock up and they fixed that problem by going to the restore point before the updates were installed.

Well a bit of bad news.

The problem went away for a few weeks.

Today how ever. I started up my computer. Attempted to open fire fox. That familiar problem of the mouse being movable whilst every thing else was frozen is back.

I did a hard reset. Opened fire fox. Tried to navigate back here. Complete freeze. Which was odd, never has it frozen a second time in a row.

So back to square one.

(Still running my computer with only 3 ram modules in the 6 slots I have)
