Windows Live Mail "Block and Delete"

All the info I have read on line talks about clicking the 'block andd delete' button. I don't have one! Can someone tell me where it is?

I think you have to wait until you get a piece of junk email that was put in to the Junk email folder automatically by WLM. Then open it and choose that option which appears at the top.

    Hello hornplayer

Its usually at the top of the email in the reading pane if it reaches your inbox

If its in your junk mail box you will get this

Right click the email and the options to block are there

I have no such pane in my junk mail folder. I took a screenshot of my folder with the junk mail message open but I don't know how to get it here. I looked at 'insert image' but the image is on my computer, and doesn't have a URL. If you can tell me how to get said screenshot here, I can show you what I do have.

Okay, I looked at your screenshot. I already know how to add a sender to the blocked sender list. BUT - there just is NO 'block and delete' option!!!
Thanks for the instructions on uploading a screenshot. Here 'tis.

Ok what security setting are you using

Also looking at your screenshot you have double clicked the email already to open it, to see the options in the junk email section you need to right click the email in the panel.

If you have already added the address as trusted you may need to remove it from the trusted list again

I think that is what the OP can't find. I think I saw that at least once but not often. The question is what causes that "delete and block | allow sender" choice to appear at the top of an email in your inbox. Obviously, we don't get that choice with every email received.

And what exactly is an "unknown sender"...unknown to whom? Not in your contact list?

EDIT: I did find this from How Stuff Works: "Windows Live [Hot]Mail is spam protected and includes anti-virus filters that you can apply to multiple e-mail accounts. It also has visual warnings that warn if an e-mail message appears suspicious. If you see one, the user has the option to click "Delete and Block," which will take care of that e-mail and block any other e-mails from that address." http://communication.howstuffworks.c...ive-email2.htm
(I added the "[Hot]" because it's evident from the page that he is talking about the Hotmail website not the WLM program.)

Also, this from WLM help forum seems to define "suspicious" as "the sender is not added in your Contact list, Safe Senders list or Blocked Senders list".

    I agree roncerr.

Anything that enters your junk mail box has the "add to safe senders/show images dialogue for obvious reasons, until you choose to allow or block it then that becomes default for that address.
Anything that reaches your mail box has unknown sender "delete and block/allow sender" until again you choose a default for that address.
However I think hotmail has a preconfigured list of trusted addresses which are automatically allowed. For example I got this one in my inbox this morning which isnt on any of my lists but is automatically allowed.
