Windows 7: Chrome address bar behavior

Chrome address bar behavior

I don't know why this started happening but it only started today I think. I used to be able to enter "g" into the address bar and it would suggest "" to me because that is my most visited site that starts with a g. If I typed "go" it would change that suggestion to "". Now it doesn't do that and makes my browsing less efficient! When I press "g" it would suggest a google search for "g", if I pressed "go" it would suggest a google search for google! This is stupid, how do I change this back?

How to change behavior of the address bar in the W7 taskbar?
Specifically, I want it to launch Firefox when I type in an URL, and Google when I enter a search? How do I go about replacing Internet Explorer and Bing for these functions? Thanks.
