Can you post an image of your account properties 'Server' & 'Advanced' tabs.
Remove your Email username before making the image of the 'Server' tab. Make an Image.docx

,please try to set SMTP port to 587 with TLS or SSL Encryption.
It seems you have a port smtp wrong settings
Please go to your providers web site and check what they say you need for setting the smtp

Ok Folks - Roderunner, will try Robinb9's suggestion first, then come back to you if no success. I have just 24 hours, then will hand over to my fixit man as it is essentail that I get this thing going> In the meantime, many thanks to both of you.

Robin, checked provider's centre as suggested. Everything seems perfectly correct. Also did as you suggested on the port - still no go.

    Roderunner, screen shots as requested.

I have been on Plusnet website and your 'Server' tab is correct. The 'Advanced' tab on your account should be exactly like this.
