Windows Live Mail showing error 0x800CCC0D

Keeps telling me that it can't find my POP3 server. Have checked settings, works fine on Thunderbird, but will not allow me to go online fromLive Mail.

    Any ideas?

Help would be useful - I'm already short of a fair bit of hair, without pulling any more out...

    something has to be off:
    or spelled wrong
make sure there is no , after your email address like username@comcast,net
    I have a , instead of period
    also in your isp settings

Hi RobinB9! Thanks for that. Checked it out and nothing is spellled incorrectly. It was working fine, I decided to work offline, went back after a short break - then dead.

The "Tasks" note which comes up shows yellow triangle with exclamation mark then "Check new messages on ' (my e-mail address) ' - cancelled". The errors note shows :-

    Server "mail.plus.net"
    Protocol POP3
    Port 110
    Secure No

Incidentally, getting the errors report up is not easy - sometimes it comes up fine, at others it is blank.

I am beginning to wonder if the system would understand me better if I used Manderin Chinese??!!!!???

Hi sesamoid, your account properties on the advanced tab should look like this.

Hi Roderunner, Thanks for that - it does, all but the actual ports used. Those are STMP 25 and POP 587.

How are things in the beautiful country? (longing to get back the Isle of Lewis!...)

The settings on your pc should be as in my image.
Nothing much has changed, still getting showers between rainy spells.

it should be reversed. the smtp should be 587
the pop 25 or you can try 110 for the pop and see if that works

Roderunner and RobinB9 - have tried both. Still no impact. Still shows me the "Check new messages -- cancelled. Tempted to try pouring strong coffee into it....

The other thing, which I have seriously considered, is to wipe "Live" off the lap-top and re-load it, but I only want to do that as a last resort.

Anyway, thanks for your suggestions so far - it is much appreciated.
