You have to uninstall the whole package, then reinstall it
I chose to install WLM only --- not the other stuff. That didn't work. So I installed the other junk which I never use at all and do not want to ever use. That didn't work, either. I then updated to WLM 2012. That really made things worse. Now my taskbar has to be summoned every time I want to reply, and when it does appear, it covers up the top of my incoming messages. In addition to the black void.
Think I'll rob a bank and get Outlook. This is madness.
You could also try free Mozilla Thunderbird.

Good suggestion. Aren't these the Firefox guys? Do you know if they are into scanning your email for the purpose of loading you up with ads?
What about Yahoo Pro? Does anyone use that?
Yes, Thunderbird and Firefox are both Mozilla programs.
I never heard they scan emails for loading ads.
No experience here with Yahoo.
I'd really like to get WLM to work, but it seems hopeless at this point. I have no idea what's gone so wrong! I guess if some miracle doesn't happen in the night to fix it, I'll have to consider other options. Thanks for the info, David.
Which Browser do you use or have installed,
What Security suite do you have installed.
There is a uninstaller available,
Windows essentials uninstaller,

Hi, ThrashZone. I'm using IE9 and Microsoft Security Essentials. I've transferred WLM to 2003 Outlook, but it didn't turn out so well. I'm still getting emails at WLM and not Outlook, even though Outlook is now the default. I'm hanging onto WLM until I'm sure everything has been transferred. It was a strange experience: I got duplicates of some items in my inbox, but they ended up in "deleted mail." ??? Miles to go....
Thanks for that link. When I get all the kinks out, I use that uninstall to free myself from WLM.
Some things to try:
Make sure WLM is closed> Open task manager> Ctrl+Shift+ Esc> On the Services tab right click on WLIDSVC and choose Stop service> Exit task Manager> Reopen WLM and see if the problem still exists

KB2454826 especially is known to cause black screen/areas in WLM.
