Would they cause that black background?

As they are related to pages displaying properly, yes. Unzip my attachment, right click the .exe file and run as administrator.UpdateChecker.zip

Are the people having this issue using the same version of WLM?
Maybe it's some bug, and using a different version would fix it?

I'm not sure, David. I think my version of WLM is the 2011 version, but I'm running a 2009 PC.

robinb9 -- You promise nothing will get lost if I re-install? I am so leery of messing with anything...

it should not - I have done this like 40 times to different computers and everythme they reinstalled it everything was there, if you are afraid you can use this to guide to back it up, prior to uninstalling it

I'm currently running 2012, but I'm almost a hundred percent certain I saw this in 2011 also. One difference is my OS. I'm running 8, not 7. I troll both forums and sometimes forget which one I'm on. Sorry about that. It happens when you get old.

pricetech -- You are so forgiven. I bet I'm waaay older than you, so I totally understand.

OK, Robin. You're on. Later today, I'll uninstall & reinstall. Hopefully, the magic will work. I'll let you know.

Very strange goings-on. Got a window that said, "This item cannot be opened," when I clicked on on WLM in the window that asked me which of the Windows Live programs I wanted to uninstall. I x'd it out and proceeded. WLM was still listed in All Programs even after the uninstall was ostensibly finished. Shouldn't it have been removed from the list?

I will try the whole procedure again.
