Black background on top of WLM

Just got a refurbished Dell desktop, and transferred my WLM email from my old HP. It all arrived OK except for my contacts, but there is a black empty place about two inches wide above my messages. I can't make it go away. Any ideas?

Try doing a repair of WLM
    Go to control panel
    Program and features
    Find windows live essentials
    Double click it
    Use the repair option
When done see if this fixes it

Good idea, robinb9. I tried it, and it took almost 1/2 an hour. I figured it was busy fixing things. Alas, no. The email list still has the black void on top of it.

Has Adobe Flash Player & Shockwave been installed in Internet Explorer with plug-ins added to the browser you use?

You could also try uninstalling it and reinstalling it, when you do this you will find everything will still be there, maybe that will fix it
It holds all your emails and contacts in the registry that is why when you uninstall and reinstall everything is there

I don't have an answer, but I've seen that on several installs of WLM on my own machines, mostly Windows 8 as I recall.

In my case I can move my cursor across the black area and most of it goes away and reveals what's underneath. Does yours behave the same ??

Roderunner -- Both programs show "extensions." Is that the same as a plug-in?

robinb9 -- You promise nothing will get lost if I re-install? I am so leery of messing with anything...

pricetech -- I can left-click & get the "search email" window, but it doesn't fill up that whole black space.
