ie 10 is swtich hompage...
IE 10 only, FF doesn't have the problem.
when I open IE-homepage "http://google.ca"
It switches to https://google.ca
and goes into high speed switching back a forth.
The work of nasty people?
Anything would be helpful before I start to look in the registry.
I think, I got it from download some videos on youtube.

fixed it, so far, i think
I changed a few things in Internet option>advanced
Browsing
unchecked Disable Accelerator button on selection
unchecked enable 3rd- party browser extentions*
unchecked use passive FTP
Security
checked Block unsecured images with other mixed content
checked enabled enhanced protect mode*
I would go though each to figure out which was the problem.
But I better things to do.
something work and i'm sticking to it

https://www.google.com/
Google search has always been https,
Why it's switching back and forth ?
First I would suggest Internet Options/ Security/ Reset all zones to Default/ Apply/ Advanced/ Restore advanced setting/ Apply and Okay.
Now Internet options/ General/ Delete button/ Uncheck the top box and click on Delete.
Close Internet explorer and re-open it and test.
Everything was OK after what I did but I reset all the zones, it's still working
thanks

I guess I should checked more closely after the change. it's back to the problem.
I'll go thru my earlier changes to find the one that will fix.

i went thru my advanced changes individually and could find one that changed anything.
But what i did find is that Google.ca "short cut" on the favorites bar caused it to start flashing.
And anything else on the bar causing the screen to flash
If I select the house icon it stops the flashing.
If I type an address in manually it seams to work.
Tomorrow is another day
