Recent oddity when trying to use accelerator

Quite often while reading a post, I use wikipedia accelerator to find definition of a word. It's worked fine until about the last month or so, now it frequently tells me it's not available & leaves a blank tab which won't close until I close out of SF first. I don't believe I've made any change to IE settings. Still using IE9. Any ideas?

    Open Internet explorer,
Use Alt+HA or Gear symbol on the top right and About Internet explorer,
Post the KB# you have installed/ Should be KB2879017
If you have the current KB installed,
I would first remove and re-install the accelerator,
    If still no joy,
Before using the accelerator Press the F12 key and click the Document mode and click on IE9 Standards and test.
At worst Reset Internet explorer and repeat Uninstalling the accelerator/ re-install it.
Export Favorites to html file before resetting Internet explorer/ just to be safe.

Thanks ThrashZone, sorry about delay. My IE is current. Not sure I want to uninstall the accelerator until I know it's still available for reinstall or I find one similar. Skimmed through the Gallery but might have been in too much hurry, didn't see it. I have absolutely no idea of what you mean about "Press the F12key, etc." Did an IE reset not too long ago, not sure I want to take that route. It's not a real big deal anyway. I do have more important things to deal with first, then will come back to this, work on it or at least let you know what's up.

The F12 key opens Developer tools,
You can manually switch Document modes and Browser modes to test,

Okay well unless you say what toolbar this Wiki accelerator belongs to I see no way to help,
I suppose this is the link which brings up your blank page which is operating as expected on my end without any special developer tools tricks,
    Screenshot with Paint
Post a Full screen shot not just the top section.
    Cheers.

Not sure I'm reading your 1st sentence above correctly, I'm not trying to hide anything.

I wasn't understanding how your accessing the Accelerator and your previous screen shot didn't show anything,
The problem I see is Active x filtering is enabled,
The Blue circle with the slash through it,

Right click that symbol and click on Disable,
Or Gear symbol and Safety/ Uncheck Active x filtering.

Would that be for this site only?

No that would be for any site when you want to use this accelerator.
Active x filtering blocks All third party stuff without exception,
An alternative is to pin the wiki site to your Taskbar and when you want to use it switch to that window and not as a accelerator.
I see you use the Favorites bar you can also add the wiki site to it and have quick access to search with.
