Recently, my hard drive crashed. I used Windows Live Mail as my email client on a system that was running Vista. My new computer runs Windows 7. I wanted to import my mail messages from the old hard drive (connected with a hard drive enclosure), but did not know the default file path for messages stored physically on the hard drive. Eventually, I was able to figure out the search terms needed to find the storage folder (thanks to the messages posted in the Vista forum) and then drag/drop them to the new folder. I thought some of you might also be experiencing the same problem, so here is the file path information from my backup folder (from the old Vista hard drive): G:\BACKUP\date-here\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Storage Folders
Find the same folder in Windows Explorer on the new hard drive, drag and drop, restart Windows Live Mail, and voila! Your old messages stored on an earlier (crashed) hard drive will appear on your new hard drive.
