IE 11 and ability to get at sky router stats

Hi, I installed IE 11, since which I've not been able to get at my SKY router stats. 198.162.0.1

It ask for my id and password but then just does nothing. except display the spinning wheel.

I remebered I had the same issue with IE 10 and backed out to IE 9 where everything works perfectly.

I assume its somthing I've done locally but cannot find out what.

I've tried compatibility mode and reinstalling to no avail.

    Any ideas gratefully accepted

    Al

It is probably nothing that you have done locally. Just install another web browser and use it when you want to see your router. Most browser installation processes ask if you want the new browser to be the default browser. You can say no to that. The first time that you open the new browser, it might ask again if it can be the default browser. You can say no to that too. If the new browser manages to become your default browser, post back and we can help you sort that out.

It is always good to keep two or more working web browsers installed. It is kind of a pain to try and fix a computer that cannot "surf the web".

Thanks for this. I do not really want to install another browser. I'm one of those people who actually likes IE.

If it works in ie9 surely it should work in IE11 or at least have an explanation. I have another machine where IE 11 works exactly as it should.

    Thanks again Al

Have you reset you modem/ router ?
See if these have any positive results,
Reset Host file to default-scroll down for Mr.Fixit for me

I just checked for driver update and there was a wired network driver released from Intel,
So I'm not sure what hardware you have installed but you can check with Dell and see if any updated drivers are available.

I like/use IE too. IE can do things that no other web browser can do. Your additional info that another computer on your network can get the desired info using IE11 changes this thread considerably. Let's see what a reset does.

Power cycle the router is always an easy thing to try. Unplug for 30 seconds or so, and plug it back in.

Try confirming that 198.162.0.1 is indeed your default gateway

Start> In search box type cmd> Enter> In command prompt type ipconfig> Enter> Scroll down and confirm Default Gateway is 198.162.0.1

If it is not, write down the number there and try that in the address bar of IE11

Are you trying to connect to the router via a wireless connection or a wired one? If wireless, try it with a wired connection and see if that helps.

Try pinging 198.162.0.1 to see if it connects or times out.

Thanks for this. Tried all these I'm afraid. It works perfectly well on ie9. 192.168.0.1 is the standard address for sky routers. It also works on on my other desktop which is connected to the same router and is running ie11.

    Thanks again al

Al, I understand 192.168.0.1 should be the address, but have you tried my suggestions? You confirmed that is indeed your default gateway? If it is, were you able to ping that address? You are trying to connect wireless? I don't know the answer to any of my questions from your reply. A Guy

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific. I am directly connected to the router (wired). 192.168.0.1 is the default gateway. I have not tried pinging the address yet as to do that I have to reinstall ie11.
I will be trying the ping plus the suggestions from thrash zone as soon as I can and then I will get back to you.

    Thanks for the reply
