IE 11 and ability to get at sky router stats
-
Ok this is where I'm upto. IE9 everything works ok. IE10 and IE11 all websites working ok except when I try to look at the stats for my sky router 192.168.0.1
I have reset just about everything (but obviously not what's causing the problem) using the pgm suggested by thrashzone. I can ping 192.168.0.1 no problem.
when I type in the address 192.168.0.1 (ie10 and ie11) I get the spinning wheel and 'waiting for 192.168.0.1'
I have another PC attached to the router which is running IE11 and has no issues i.e. I can get to the router stats with no problem.
That machine is quite new running W7, 1TB HDD, Intel Haswell i5 quadcore chip.
The machine I have the issue on is running W7, 2x1TB HDDs, Intel dual core chip.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Should also have mentioned the Newer PC runs IE64 whereas the problem pc runs ie32

zombiex1,
I noted similar behavior, the easy fix for me was to input the address (in your case 192.168.0.1) into the compatibility list (now via the gear drop down or tools dropdown).
Now check your router site operation --- Bill

Hi W7bill,
I did try this as someone else had also suggested it...to no avail I'm afraid..
I'll have another go when I've worked up the strength to install ie11 for the 5th time.
Thanks

You could try launching IE11 inprivate browsing mode and see if the router page loads. I had terrible issues with IE10 and 11 accessing my routers browser UI. Sometimes it will load fine, other times just seem to hang forcing multiple refreshes to get it to load. Same with some other local device browser interfaces such as a network drive and my local FTP page. Other local devices such as a second network drive and an access point loaded fine so go figure. Seems MS have neglected much especially with using 'internal' devices in the browser. External site browsing is pretty decent but this was a major issue for me and forced me back to IE9 where everything just works. However a workaround was in private view whereupon those issues did go away. It was the only method, resetting IE, compatibility view or even launching no add ons mode made no difference. Anyway try in private mode just in case it works!
I have latest Firefox too and never had this issue so it's IE specific.

Just got this from another site where I asked the same question
It's the new security features in IE 10 and 11 that's all
on the menu bar in IE 10 or 11 go to tools > Internet Options > Advanced then scroll down to security, take the tick out of "Enable Enhanced Protected Mode*", you'll need to restart pc for changes to take effect.
I'll give it a try tomorrow and get back to you.
Thanks Al

Give it a try but I don't think it'll help much. I am sure I tried all that. By default IE runs 32 bit tabs. Checking 'enable enhanced protected mode' simply runs 64 bit tabs. Trouble is 64 bit mode can have problems with some sites and add ons designed for 32 bit. All I know is running 'inprivate' browsing mode allowed me to access my router instantly 100% of the time instead of intermittent rendering delays. I personally hated the way IE10 and 11 forced me to do this which is why I rolled back to IE9. That along with FTP access problems.
Let me know how you get on though.
Cheers

You will not have the Enhanced Protected Mode setting on a 32bit operating system.

Hi Folks,
As you have said there is no 'Enhanced protected mode' in 32bit IE so it can't be unticked.
I've tried inprivate browsing to no effect.
Think I'll have a go at switching everything off in Advanced; security just to see if it makes a difference
Thanks for your suggestions
