Windows Live Mail - How to send using Alias? (Urgent Help Needed)

    Greetings,

I work at home and my main means of communication with my employer is via Email. Due to some emails requiring to be downloaded and saved for future reference, I had to start using a manager. I started using WLM and am very satisfied with all its features. However, I've been sending and replying to my employer using my main email or the parent email in this case. How do I reply/send email using my alias?

See if this is what you seek

To send with an alias address in WLMail:
    add a new account.
Enter the alias address, enter the parent account password, enter a display name.

Check to Manually configure server settings.
A pop3 server will have to be used.
    Under Server Information:
    * Choose POP as Server type.
    * In the Server address field, type pop3.live.com.
Select the Requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.

    Authenticate using: clear text.
Under Logon user name, type your Parent email address.

    Under Outgoing Server information:
In the Server address: field, type smtp.live.com
Use 25 or 587 for the port number (If port 25 has been blocked in your network or by your ISP, you can set SMTP port to 587)
Select the Requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.
Select the Requires authentication check box.

To prevent the download of emails to the alias account:

Right-click on the new account in the folder pane and select Properties. On the General tab, uncheck Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing.

I've already tried that last night. Unfortunately, it didn't work as I thought it would. I lost my alias folder and it only pulled in emails from my main email/parent email.

I don't use WLM myself, hopefully someone with personal experience will be along soon. A Guy

Hi Cash, am I right in saying you want all your mail from / to your employer to be saved in the same folder for future reference.

I personally use 3 mail accounts. One for friends, one for general use and the last as adhoc. Your best modus operandi would be another account. Gmail is my first choice as, if mail is accessed using POP it can be archived by Gmail, & it keeps a record of sent / forwarded mail and wont be deleted if removed from WLM.
This will explain it better. WLM Tips.docx

I'd do that if I can separate my alias from my main email and turn it into a new one. If I delete the alias, can I register it as a new email?

I'm sorry I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this.
