    IE 11 Installation

    I was able to remove IE 11 using archer's post (23 Nov. 2013).
    I used MS forum to reload IE 11 but am unable to have the program produce anything other than a blank screen.

    Finally had to reinstall Win 7 and wait until hours of updates then IE11 installed -- finally! It appears that some hacker attempted to hack the hackee and failed, but did manage to corrupt some files in my laptop. I did find an odd folder, "conduit" that was cleaned out and now other stuff runs better. I know exactly where that came from.

    That was a virus, possible to pick up numerous places.

    Hi probedb,

    Run this command as admin from command prompt (cmd.exe). Make sure you have admin rights.

    FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /quiet /norestart"

    This will force to uninstall IE 11 and roll back to IE 10.
    I got a similar problem but by installing IE9 so is this your suggestion still good in my case?
    Should I only replace "11" with "9" from your command?
    By the way, even if I installed it (but installation failed), IE9 isn't in the list of installed programs.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Archer

    I was helping my brother with this issue where IE 11 on his machine was not working. Tried several times re-installing IE11 as administrator of that machine but it would not install. The install process would say it completed and make me reboot the machine but in reality it did not install. Thanks to Archer's post I was able to go back to IE 7 and got it working again. I joined this forum to personally thank Archer for his post as this problem was driving me crazy. However the question is why and how IE 11 stopped working.

    From what I can guess the IE installation problems is related to Microsoft updates.
    The computer I'm having problems with was not connected to internet so the updates were not implemented and that could be the reason why IE update fails because it needs some components which are missing from the system.
