Google Chrome grinds to a halt or can't access page

Hello and thanks in advance for any insight to this problem.

Google Chrome suddenly slows and opening pages reminds me of old dial up connection then show errors ( I'm sorry I don't have codes) - I would close out and reopen the browser and it would work okay for a few pages ad go back to screwed up mode.
Second computer on the same internet connection with firefox was working just fine. Same OS. W7/ 64bit
Tried restart = no help. Over the course of the day the problem lessened and today seems 'fixed'

Today it's fine - yesterday it was unusable.

    Is this a common thing?

Do you have multiple extensions enabled? If so I would disable them, and test the pages again. I've had this happen before while I was running 20 or so extensions. It turned out each page visit stored more and more info on a lot of the extensions, and after a while Chrome's memory climbed so high the browser became unresponsive.

You can use Chrome's built in task manager to see if a certain tab is the cause when it slows

Thanks to your help, I found the culprit! It was an enhanced browser app that came with Dragon speak 11 install. Once I disabled it the problem stopped. Thank you again for a great forum and your input.
