Constantly getting "Not Responding" in IE8

This happened quite a bit even prior to installing Win7, but I thought Win7 might get rid of the problem I was having with IE8 in Vista. I'm having a problem when I browse, and IE randomly locks up, freezes, and says "Not Responding". Also...sometimes when I try to open a new tab, that will lock up as well. I can't close it out, or put in a web address or anything like that. I've tried quite a bit. Went and reset IE8. Still happens quite often. Sometimes, when I'm even doing things on the PC such as opening up programs, and changing settings and what not, I'll get "not responding" on those as well. Same thing with Windows Live/mail. That will "Not Respond" as well sometimes.

Anyone have any idea what may be causing these problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any kind of info... just let me know.

Thanks.

you obviously didnt do a clean install. when you upgrade you bring all the problems with you.
So to be honest a CLEAN install would be the easiest fastest way but since you porbably dont want to lets start looking to see what the IE probblem is not
thpe event viewer in search. Go to the windows logs, application tab. Look for errors (red "X" in the left column) like app crash, app hang, etc and look for IE in the details pane. there will be a ton. find the most frequest on and copy the event ID and source codes down and let us know what they arer

Let us know the results

Ken,

Thanks for the reply. You're correct...I did not do a clean install. I have nothing to back my programs and files to (like an extrenal hard drive or anything like that), and I didn't want to loose my info.

I installed Mozilla Firefox to see if it was an IE problem, but Firefox had the same issue. I have zero idea what might be causeing the problem....but here's a couple of the event ID and source codes that I'm getting...

ID: 1002 Source: Application hang

ID: 10 Source: WMI

ID: 10 Source: WMI

ID: 1002 Source: Application hang

ID: 1002 Source: Application hang

ID: 1002 Source: Application hang

ID:1002 Source: Application hang

is that the kind of info you're looking for? Again, I appreciate any, and all, of your help!

Thanks!

Also Ken, If say I went out, purchased something to copy my hard drive to, isn't it very possible that when I load the info back on to the computer....that it will just load the problem back on? You'll have to forgive me....I'm not well well versed with some of this stuff.

"The filter host process 5916 did not respond and is being forcibly teminated"

and the ID: 10024 Source: Search
