Internet Explorer kept opening new windows. What happened?

I think you're clean. Sounds like a mail to link on a webpage tried to open IE to send a mail with your default email program perhaps. If you don't have one set especially. The OS will use IE for things like windows update, even if you don't use IE to browse. A Guy

I was wondering if this might have been the issue - but I hoped to test it first with the link the OP used. I wonder what the OS would do if IE was removed via "Turn Windows features on or off".
