Emails are recieved with delay on outlook 2010

    Hi
There is a delay in receiving emails on outlook 2010 in windows 7. I immediately recieve emails on ipad and owa but not on outlook.

So far I have tried deleting email account from my profile and that didn't worked.

I also deleted the outlook profile and that also didn't worked.

    Any suggestion?

The outlook is installed my laptop and I have no issue with Internet connectivity on it. It puts connected through Dame wifi that the ipad is connected to..

This is because Outlook is not constantly checking for new mail but instead in predefined intervals. You can change the time interval for sending and receiving new mail in Send / Receive settings.

First open the Send / Receive Groups menu and select Define Send / Receive Groups:

Emails are recieved with delay on outlook 2010-2013-12-14_02h36_50.png

Set the time interval (highlighted yellow):

Emails are recieved with delay on outlook 2010-2013-12-14_02h39_55.png

Set the value to 1 minute to force Outlook to pick new mail every minute. Personally I have to say I really cannot see any reason to have Outlook constantly checking new mail, even at work it's enough for me to check 4 times per hour.

I hope this to be the cause of delayed emails but I doubt because we have never played with these settings. We just install office and that's it. So we leave all at default and have not faced this issue...

Also what's the default timings? In My case it shows 30 minutes.. We use the same installation media for all clients.

Now another question what is the affect of setting it to 1 minute on a network that consists of approximately 500 users on premise. Sine our exchange server is placed at data center to which these users are connected through 80mbps p2p link.
Most of our serves are at data center.
So how much bandwidth does outlook uses if we set it to 1 minute on all clients?

For the first, your original post made it quite clear you were talking about one private PC, one email account, instead of as it looks now about a quite large corporate network:

I do not recommend changing the default settings on programs on a corporate network without consulting the IT department.

Secondly, the Send / Receive interval has no effect in Exchange email accounts; when Outlook is running and online, Exchange mail should be received as it arrives.

In other words it looks like the Send / Receive interval is not the reason for your delays.

Actually it's one of the user in our environment that is having this issue..
And i am level 1 support guy there.

My findings are that only one user is facing this issue.

It's the sme wifi that his ipad etc are connected and there is no issue on them. So there is no issue of Internet connectivity and neither it is a server issue. Or his account on server that's affected.

How should I further diagnose this issue?

Secondly are these send receive settings of any affect of he is not on lan.. That is if he is connected through his home Internet. Do they have any affect then?

I have to admit I have no idea.

I have been testing various scenarios with Outlook and an Exchange email address (home computer in work group, office computer in domain) and I cannot reproduce your issue. The exchange mail messages appear in Outlook as soon as they arrive to server.

Hopefully some other members come forward with new ideas.

Could it be the users windows profile that's causing this issue?

Because I have in the past been able to solve some really pesky issue of Outlook not connecting to exchange by removing the user profile through registry.

    Hello,

I am also experiencing the same problem in the user computers. I think there may be an issue with the email synchronization. Connect status on the outlook is always negotiation mode but I am not receiving any emails on the outlook client.

Please suggest me if there is any solution or root cause method to find an exact issue.

    Thanks in advance
