How do I fix "long running script"?

My PC is suddenly taking forever to connect to the internet, and I keep getting the message that "a long running script is preventing your connecting to the internet". What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Which Security and browsers do you have installed,
Fix Runtime Errors in Internet Explorer,
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822521
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308260
If you have chrome installed as well as Privacy Safeguard which must be an addon for chrome,
    Uninstall (Privacy Safeguard)

You can also check this by going to Uninstall a program/ programs and features and seeing if you have Privacy safeguard listed and uninstalling it.
Go to Uninstall a Program/ Programs and Features,
And possibly look and see if any Program Publishers look suspicious.

And this is what I see: “A script on this page is causing IE to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive”.

Happens in the morning first time I try to connect to the internet . Takes forever...

If you receive a popup there is usually a direct link to the options to see which one is effecting startup,
Or you can use the Command bar/ Tools/ Toolbars/ Disable add-ons listings=the long route,

I appreciate your help but none of these seems to help...

Once my PC is up and running it's fine, but each and every time it takes at least ten to fifteen minutes to connect to the internet, and it's not my router/modem.

If anyone else has a suggestion I'd love to hear it..

    What happens using clean boot,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/179159-troubleshoot-application-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Also see if these tools help,
Reset Host file to default-scroll down for Mr.Fixit for me
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/98056-sf-ie-restorator-troubleshooting-general-issues-ie.html
With the limited information about your system spec's/ Security suite installed it's going to be a long road for anyone to troubleshoot your issue,
    Cheers.

    Oops sorry Norton my bad,
Use Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
    Hit enter,
go to the Startup section and take a screen shot of the Startup section list.

What is your Home page. Try setting a different Home page as see what happens.

I have tried various home pages...same thing. As for Mr. Fixit, forget it. This program has never fixed anything for me.

Thrash I will try your suggestions in the morning and let you know what happens.

Look forward to the added screen shots,
Hopefully the problem will be listed in the startup section list,
Also if you can muster the time go to Manage add-ons and Show all add-ons and take some more shots of it,

There are a ton of search results here you can scroll through as well,
