tktk88: At this point, I don't know what causes the msg(s) to crash WinMail.
I do not recommend changing your Nvidia driver. That might introduce new issues, or it might not. I don't think it would have any bearing on the original issue (mshtml.ddl crashing in WinMail) - to me the two are entirely unrelateed.
Good thinking on changing WinMail to read msgs in text only - I'd have to look, but that probably came from endeavor.
I'm not confident that a solution will be found. endeavor tested one of the problematic msgs on his test bed and had no issues. He has the same mshtml.dll as you and andjayik - so that pretty much rules out finding a way to point WinMail to an earlier version.
There are a few tools in Sysinternals that could help trace the cause, but I'm not proficient enough with them to walk you through their use. If you want to read up on Sysinternals or watch a few videos by the authors, you can visit
Sysinternals Process Utilities
and
Sysinternals System Information Utilities
Focus on
Process Explorer
and
Process Monitor
These are excellent tools, but there is a learning curve. I can't locate it now, but somewhere on the Sysinternals pages are conference vidoes that are great - they're long, but they walk you through examples in great detail.
Just to let you know, I don't think I can add anything more to solve this issue - wish I could.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions when you test drive WLM or Thunderbird. As I mentioned in a PM, I'm not familiar with Thunderbird, but you can ask me a question about it anyway. Some things are generic eMail questions, others are specific to that client.
