    Internet Explorer has stopped working

    Hi all

I have a fairly new desktop PC I used my original windows 7 home edition as my operating system and updated to Internet Explorer 11.

Just lately I have been experiencing 'Internet Explorer has stopped working problems'. I went onto the Microsoft help site and followed a procedure which involved turning off all my start up programs with the exception of the Microsoft ones. When I tried to restart at the end of the procedure my PC froze.

It seems I have a problem more deep seated than the Explorer problem and could really do with some help.

    Hoping for a reply soon.

    Best Regards Ken.

There were a number of fixes for IE9,10 and 11 just last week. I remember seeing the "'Internet Explorer has stopped working" addressed in one or two of them. These were part of the MS monthly update cycle so make sure you're up to date. I tried to find the link again but can't.

    Thanks for prompt reply.

The advice I followed was based on a reply to someone else's question. The answer can be found at:

    Hi Carwiz

    Thanks for prompt reply.

Although the Explorer issue was the initial issue it is the fact that I can't alter my start up programs that causes my real concern. seemed more like a virus to me. Although having said that the Explorer issue is getting worse.

    Best regards Ken.

    Hi Thanks for the link,
    A popular article,
    What errors happened on Reset,
Look at this and report any discrepancies in the process,
Especially after checking the box to delete personal settings
Reset process first opening Internet explorer
After reset the only add-on still Enabled would be Adobe Shockwave flash player/ please confirm,

    Hi

Glad the link worked. Wasn't to sure it would work.

Reset procedure was OK but restart just resulted in Windows revolving circle. Only way out was a cold start and the 'Start Windows Normally' prompt.

    Hope this helps.

Unlike the Microsoft site we have here a utility to fill in your system spec's for you,
See the link above my hot signature picture on how to use it,
Also post what security suite you use and have installed or ever had installed,
    Any third party utilities used/ ccleaner/ Tuneup/......
    Post screen shots,
Click the start button and type msconfig
Click on the suggestion or the enter key,
Go to the Startup section and the Services section/ Check the box to Hide Microsoft services and repeat the screen shot,
    Cheers.

    Hi ThrashZone

Hope this is as you require. Not that good at this sort of thing.

I use an antivirus called Bulldog which came installed on my PC and CCleaner.

As part of this exercise I discovered that trying to apply any change to the startup utility results in my PC locking up and the subsequent cold start.

    Regards.

    Thanks Good job
Post the Startup section with two shots if needed,
Also show the lower section of the services that was only the top half
Thanks for the desktop shot as well,
Can't say I've ever seen BullGuard before where did you buy your machine ?
    Clean boot,
