Internet Explore & Google Chrome | Compared!

Here I have compared 2 Well known and widely used browsers, the chances are that if you are reading this you are most probably using one of the two.

------------------------TESTS--------------------------

Each browser has been subjected to 3 different tests:

Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test - This tests the upload and download speed, and also the ping.
HTML5test - How well does your browser support HTML5? - The HTML5 test score is an indication of how well your browser supports the upcoming HTML5 standard and related specifications.
The Acid3 Test - To pass the test, a browser must use its default settings, the animation has to be smooth, the score has to end on 100/100, and the final page has to look exactly, pixel for pixel.

So now we understand the purpose of tests we are using, lets start off with Internet Explorer:

So that's the end of the tests for Internet Explorer pretty impressive results, now lets look at Google chrome:

Results:

Google Chrome was superior all of its results were better. The Speed Test showed that Google Chrome had a faster ping, download, and upload speed. Google Chrome scored 131 more points then Internet Explorer on the HTML5 Test. The results of the ACID 3 Test were surprising as Internet Explorer couldn't finish the test, only reaching 89/100.

All of the results point to a winner but i'l let you decide!

I ran test with my I.E.11 and Firefox 28.

Both I.E.11 and Firefox scored 100 on the Acid test. Firefox did better on the HTML5 test.

its interesting to do these tests, of course everyone's results will differ.

How about the more subjective tests like useability, functionality, feature sets...?

IE can do things that no other browser can...
...like integrate into the OS
...favorites/shortcuts are individual files
(easy to share just one file/shortcut)
...favorites have full Explorer context menus
...favorites can be app files (I use this feature.)
...COM objects (That is a huge business feature.)



Chrome (which I also use) changes a lot. Try writing scripts/apps to interact with that.


Your speedtest.net is not a browser test - right?


You did not state which version of IE you tested.
Try IE11 with 64bit tabs.

I've not used it in a while.

You can see on the HTML5 test which browser i am using it say below the score.
The purpose of speed the speed test was to see which browser handles the data better. as im sure you know different browser react to the data differently, and at different times. that was why i did the speed tests as quick as i could with both browsers. As you can see the ping was almost halved.

This took me over an hour to test, write, check, and post. please don't go picking faults in the comparison. its a comparison not a "in-depth comparison"

Most tests are subjective to say the least but the Acid test was no issue for ie10 either,
One of the main reasons ie doesn't do well in tests against Chrome is Java and Flash are not built in as in Chrome,
Chrome runs anything at anytime,
That's not always a positive
User control of what Chrome does is also not as customizable as ie or even Firefox,

Trust me if I used the same settings on Chrome "If they existed" I would break Chrome's back,
I was 50 points less 315 than both posted 369 in html :) that's funny considering how well ie10 performs under settings you guys don't use
