Unable to send or receive messages for the Virgin Media email account

Hi, I hope someone can help.

I've been using a virgin.media email account with Windows Live Mail for years without any problems, but today, whenever I try to send/receive mail, I get the following message:

"Unable to send or receive messages for the Virginmedia account. The connection to the server has failed.

    Server: 'pop3.virginmedia.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 995
    Secure(SSL): Yes
    Socket Error: 10061"

I've read a few similar forum posts and it looks as though some settings might outdated or need altering, but I have no idea which ones to change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Maxie,

Thank you for telling me this. :)
It looks like the server problem's been fixed now, as I'm able to send/receive emails again.

Most welcome .. If the issue happens again in the future check your Service Status on the Virgin Website .. You can usually log in to your Email from there direct ...
