    IE8 Question

i recently rolled back from IE10 all the way back down to IE8 because something was not working right in IE10 and it was not working right in IE9 i am not going to say what it was as it would violate a forum rule, but my question is how long is Microsoft going to continue patching IE8 because i am going to use it to get my add-on to work will it continue being patched until the end of the Windows 7 lifecycle

There are some very knowledgeable guys on here. Are you sure you cannot disclose what was wrong as they may be able to assist. For what it's worth I still use IE9 as versions 10 and 11 have serious glitches relating to FTP.
Hoping IE12 if it gets made available will be better. I get the impression a lot of people are unhappy with IE11 especially.

    Hi,
All kb# security updates apply to all versions of Internet explorer,
Although ie8 is not recommended to use for any reason,
    Cheers.

the only reason why it is being used because an add-on wouldn't work on certain sites on IE9 or IE10, but it did work right on IE8 and IE8 seems to be working fine on my computer without issues

    Hi,
    I can't imagine what add-on wouldn't work with ie9 or 10 ?
It's up to the developers of add-ons... to work with browsers not the other way around,
My first thought was to refer to them as to why or if there's a new version available,
    Cheers.

    See this:
    Microsoft Product Lifecycle Search

It appears that recent versions of Internet Explorer will be supported the same as their parent OS. IE8 was released with Windows 7 so it should be supported as long as Windows 7. See this for those dates:
    Microsoft Support Lifecycle

But you need a really compelling reason to use such an old browser. It will still be supported by Microsoft but don't expect it to be as secure as a more modern browser. And you can expect to have problems when websites no longer support it.
