Please update your system specs. The link is in my signature. Also, did you do an in-place upgrade, or did you do a clean install?

Make sure your firewall and/or antivirus are not blocking IE from the Internet.

Now, actually update your specs, per the link in my signature. Also, be more specific. There are quite a few Viao laptops out there.

What did you upgrade from? Vista 32 or 64 bit? What are you running now? 7 32 or 64 bit?

Another thing you could try is removing IE8 and re-adding it by doing the following.

    • Open Start
    • Type: Turn fea
    • Press Enter
    • Uncheck IE8
    • Press OK
    • Restart when asked

To re-install IE8 repeat this method but check IE8 this time. :)
