Turning on login script i.e. at Starbucks cafe

hi guys,

It seems I disabled something but when I connect to any wireless networks that require a browser login, i.e. at a starbucks, hotels, etc I don't get by default their login page when launching any browser (ie, chrome, ff), in most cases I have to type 192.168.0.1, for me is fine but well i'm not the only one using this machine..

there should be an option somewhere to enable automatic detection, in fact my work laptop automatically opens the login page on the browser..

actually i found out that, if my homepage is on a secure https:// then i get the certificate error, and the Wifi's Browser login page doesn't automatically load, since it's another https:// and i get a warning saying that the page seems to have changed from xyz https to yzx https and therefore is suspicious for all browsers.

BUT it works if i set the default page to the non https:// version, then i get the correct redirection to the https:// wifi's browser login page.

Actually i think there's a setting to override the security mismatch but at the end of the day is better being notified, when is a real world situation over a secure website.

BUT if i just set homepage to http://www.duckduckgo.com - which is NOT the secure page, it works fine and i get the wifi login page at https://wifirouterlogin.com.....

SO bottom line, i don't think is doing the wrong thing, after all, before i discovered this i cleared cookies/temp files etc and didn't make any difference...but setting homepage to http://duckduckgo.com (no S), DID make the change :)

HOWEVER i would still like to know if this IS a security setting somewhere...if you know it.
