outlook '13 won't send mail after internet provider switch

from charter internet to AT&T. Now starting right after the change i cann't send from outlook using either of 2 accounts by different email providers. I can send from thier webmail, just not from outlook. It still recieves tho. I googled it and the one solution i found was to change the port to i think it was 465 and SSL. Didin't work, tho thinking back maybe i should have restarted windows. Any ideas?

    Hello iknowjohnny,

Is this a pop3 account? Have you tried changing the Incoming & Outgoing mail server type details and seen if that helps?

No, but what would i change it to? The email provider's server address' wouldn't be any different.

Do you by chance have Norton installed? All the major anti vir companies issued a patch recently to cover the heartbleed issue. Norton's patch however has had a few unexpected side effects. I have had 4 customers last week that had issues after the patch. 2 were outlook 2013 receiving issues one on Win8 and the other on 7, two others just had a total boot failure after the patch was applied both 7 & 8 respectfully.

Full uninstall using Norton's removal tool was the only way to actually repair the issue. Reinstalled using the latest edition download from Symantec. Restore point got the no boots up first. Do Not Use the Norton repair tool or the reinstaller tool as it will make things worse. one side effect I got from all four machines was 2 Norton icons in the task bar, both functioned.

If you do not have Norton I would still look at your AV as a source of issue especially since they are all scrambling to patch the heartbleed issue and all are tied into outlook to scan emails.

Another thought on this before I close out. I have recently had issues with outlook 2013 checking the "use SSL" checkbox when accounts are added or changed. Had it happen 3 times so far on different machines so I know it's an outlook bug. Make sure SSL is unchecked and use whichever ports your email server recommends. You can "test" settings in the settings dialog form before finalizing any changes.

I just figured it out...sorta. I have a gemail account and a account with a little known provider called mochamail. The mochamail account never could send email in the 10 years or more i've had it till i got outlook 2013. It could only receive. I have no idea why it started being able to send. But when i set outlook 13 up it made the mochamail default and i forgot to change that so when creating a email it would send thru the other account that CAN send. Anyways, i noticed it was sending via mochamail and was surprised to see that but was happy about it so i left it.

FF to saturday when we had ATT DSL internet installed in place of charter cable internet. Why outlook 2013 all of a sudden can no longer send via mochamail because of the change in internet i have no idea, but i tried sending via my gmail account and it works. For many reasons i wish i could get it to work again tho. The mocha account has been my main one so long i have 100's of business and personal contacts with it. Before outlook 2013 i used to configured my email so that when i sent via gmail, the recipient's reply would go to mochamail. Outlook 2013 doesn't seem to have that feature tho.

Look on Mocha mails web site for alternate smtp ports. some smtp servers only work well within their own network as in if they were on charter cables trunk. I have had some Canadians that have had to change ports once they were out of Canada.

Thats not my email. Mine is mochamail. I talked to att support and they told me it can't be done easily and i didn't understand all he said and my situation is a bit trickier than most. So in short it's not gonna happen. oh well. I think the stones should change the title of that song to "you can almost never get what you want". Freakin internet stuff.....
