I've been an avid user of CCleaner for a decade now and never encountered this icon problem.

Once, I had issues with disappearing restore point which was caused by CCleaner tweaking but resolved itself when I tweaked back to its default setting.

I know how to create another user account but I do not want to deal with Registry cleaning after account deletion. I try to stay away from the Registry.

Registry cleaning after account deletion? Why would you need to do that?

You delete the account and that is it. You do not need to go into the registry and "mess" with anything.

Often programs/software deletion results in useless orphaned fragments left in registry which CCleaner registry scan picks up...and I really do not want to have to delete any registry entry, as much as I can help it.

I finally decided to just reset IE....the disappearing icons finally got to me. The problem is over. IE Standard browser is back to normal.
