Have you tried rebooting the router? Sometimes, it can be the router because the computer is not getting an Internet connection. Mine used to do it. But, since we changed ISP's, it doesn't do it anymore.

Agree with above. One reason for asking if both PCs were on the same connection. A simple power cycle would be easy. A Guy
I had already tried rebooting the router, but the reboot not did fix the problem.
The problem appears to have been caused by a corrupted hosts file. After I removed all the lines starting with the comment "Start of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy", the response times on my two computers are about the same.
I have uninstalled Spybot - Search & Destroy and re-installed. I am running a system scan now. After the scan completes, I will check the hosts file for changes.
The bat file should have restored the original HOSTs file...but as long as you are getting somewhere

Thanks A Guy, have been trying to sort this for the past week. Had done most of steps except restore MS's Hosts file. Also changed to Google DNS.
Problem was with BT Infinity 2, ECI Modem and HH3. I thought HH3 was the issue so put in a TP-Link TD-W9980.

Hi Guy,
I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but since successfully using your file to resolve my 'Resolving Host'
problem, the issue has returned on 2 occasions. The second time (and possibly the 1st) I realised this was after updating and immunising my system with Spy Bot.
I came back to your page and saw the above mention of Spy Bot (don't see where it came from?)
Could this be what is causing the problem to return?
Your thoughts.
(Thanks for rescuing me again!)

Thank you A Guy, you methods have worked where the others did not or only for a short while. The speed of of the browser has returned to what is expected.
My only concern is why the "flush.bat" file I saved to the desktop disappeared after the computer restarted.
