    Hi Guy,
I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but since successfully using your file to resolve my 'Resolving Host'
problem, the issue has returned on 2 occasions. The second time (and possibly the 1st) I realised this was after updating and immunising my system with Spy Bot.
I came back to your page and saw the above mention of Spy Bot (don't see where it came from?)
Could this be what is causing the problem to return?
    Your thoughts.
    (Thanks for rescuing me again!)
    Jon C.
Spybot is adding it's own entries to the HOST file. In this case, to block sites it considers malicious

    HOSTS File Entries

In doing so, it is likely also blocking something you use, whether malicious or not.

Thank you A Guy, you methods have worked where the others did not or only for a short while. The speed of of the browser has returned to what is expected.

My only concern is why the "flush.bat" file I saved to the desktop disappeared after the computer restarted.
Welcome to Seven Forums banjobenny. I believe the last line of code is designed to delete the bat file after usage (normally it isn't needed multiple times). It wasn't designed to fix the resolving host error, but rather reset some items after an infection had hijacked them. HOSTs file, DNS server, Winsock, etc. It is the resetting of the DNS that made me suggest it in the first place. The HOSTs file reset turned out to be a lucky shot, as that has helped in some cases as well. You can certainly make copy(s) and save one to, documents, for instance. Only the bat file run would delete I believe.

Let's flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file. Copy and paste these lines in Note pad. A Guy
I joined this forum only to say THANK YOU! I have 3 computers in my network, all using Google Chrome, and all giving me the "Resolving Host" moments of contemplation. I tried a lot of different suggestions, but this was the only one that worked. I'm not much of a computer guy, so I was quite unnerved to run this text, but out of desperation I gave it a shot. On my two Windows 7 machines it worked like magic.

I tried it as well on my old Vista machine, and it did not work. In fact, it knocked it off my network, and did some other wacky stuff. I did system restore, and got the system back to where it was. No big deal, I don't use the Vista computer much. But, it still does the "Resolving host" thing.

Again though, THANK YOU. On my main computers, it did the trick!

I've been having this problem for a couple of months now. I'm on windows 7. The fix posted here, did not work, although it seems to have helped a bit....no proof of that, just gut feeling.

I've notice several times this occurs, the resolving host, last exactly 10 minutes....not every case, but 75% of the time...exactly 10 minutes, from the time I activate the problem by opening the browser. Using Chorme, but other browser, same issue.

    Anyone....with ideas?

On edit...thinking adapter problem, got usb adapter...same problem. Thinking Verizon fusion broadband problem...I've had several calls to them. It does appear to be within this laptop.

Sometimes, rebooting the modem or router helps correct the issue. Have you tried that?

You could try browsing in Safe Mode with Networking as a test

    Safe Mode

Your AV and most security will not be active, so only surf know sites, and only as a test. I don't think this is the PC, unless you have DNS issues, or malware. It sounds like an ISP/router issue. But the 10 minute issue is unique, not really the Chrome Resolving Host issue most in this thread experienced.

    Verizon has replaced the router.
I've put a new adapter in the laptop.
The problem is NOT always seen on the phone which I wifi...but it does show up occasionally.

Yesterday it happened twice, and for exactly 10 minutes. Phone worked.
    This morning, it's fine.

No pattern. I've talked repeatedly to Verizon about it. They see no problems of any kind.

I read somewhere yesterday about putting my own router inbetween my laptop and Verizon's router. Now sure how that works, but thinking of digging into that more. I can't ping their DNS servers when this happens, but have pinged those with the phone while the problem exists.

And yes, it's not a Chrome issue. No browser will work on laptop when the problem exist.
