Windows Live Mail not fetching from Virgin Spam folder

I use WLM to handle a Virgin.net email account.

I have missed two very important customer emails, which has resulted in much awkwardness and wasted time.

When checking my Virgin account by webmail the missing emails were there, however for some reason had been diverted in to the spam folder ... possibly because they were new customers and the messages had attachments, so might have been treated as suspicious.

This has made me realise that WLM is not fetching any of the emails in my Spam folder for its own 'junk' folder.

When looking further I see there's been a few other emails that have slipped in to Spam in error.

    Questions:

Does WLM ignore spam folders and this is normal?

If so, can it be altered so that the inevitable few messages that get put there can be retrieved?

If WLM does NOT ignore spam folders, why do I not see the contents of my webmail's spam folder in WLM's junk folder? It has had just 4 emails in it for a v long time, none normally added!

How can I ensure that I receive those spam emails reliably, and that this does not happen again?

This is VERY important as there are consequenses to me if something is missed.

Have you checked with Virgin.net to see if you can add their Webmail SPAM Folder to your WLM list of Folders? In their zeal to protect customers some ISPs make decisions/assumptions about what their customer wants that does not always fit with the actual need.

    Thank you Berton.

I have, and they say that if all is set up as appropriate WLM should fetch whatever the account contains.

With the exception of the Spam contents it appears to be doing that, which is why I wondered whether WLM simply ignores it assuming it is already filtered-out as unwanted, which would be the case if some important email didn't occasionally slip through the net all the same.
