My IE11 browser changed - how do I revert to the previous version?

    Strangest thing.

I have two computers running side by side. Both have Windows 7 64. Both say they run the exact same version of IE11 (11.0.9600.17126). Both used to look identical.

Yesterday, I opened my second computer and the IE11 browser was different. Black background behind the menu bar instead of transparent. And all the top menus and address bar disappear (and come back if I right click on the screen someplace).

The new browser is terrible. The top menu only hides sometimes. And if it doesn't hide, then it cuts off the top of whatever page I'm looking at. It also feels buggy loading up.

From what I can figure, it sounds like this is the version of IE11 meant for windows 8 users. But I have no idea why it would change on one computer and not the other (both have automatic updates).

I'd love to get the old version back. Anyone able to suggest how to do this without losing all my favorites etc through uninstalling/reinstalling?

    ty.

Hi version numbers can vary a bit depending on where exactly you download them from,
The only thing that stays consistent is the KB# ........ under the version,
Make sure this is what shows,
    MS14-037: Security update for Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11: July 8, 2014
The KB# will reflect the most recent security updates,

If your having issues on one machine you could switch to Software rendering and see if it helps the visual differences,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/149063-internet-explorer-gpu-hardware-acceleration-turn-off.html
If it does then one machine needs to have it's graphics driver updated from the computer manufactures website,
    Cheers.

    I"ll give that a look.

It's been getting stranger ... now I've got windows open that have reverted back to my proper original look - and every once in a while, it goes with the newer full window buggy format. Even had both formats open at once :/

It sounds like you are in Full screen mode. Open IE and press the F11 key, see if that helps. If it does not, just press it again to escape from full screen. A Guy
