It depends. Normally yes if you don't already use substitute for adobe flash player. But adobe flash play is kind of an essential so you would need it in a lot of situations. If you can, tell me your current plug-ins you use for your internet browsing. If not, I highly recommend you getting adobe flash player, because it rarely crashes and supports other plug-ins.

Ah, then get adobe flash player. Plugins are add-ons to your experience that modify extensions and such. Plugins are like Shockwave flash, Java, Microsoft things, and many more that I can't list right now. I hope I helped!

Modern browsers like Internet explorer 10 and 11 don't really need Adobe flash player to watch youtube videos,
Some other websites you might be required to have flash player installed but youtube not very often is it necessary,

You haven't said which browser you use ?
Firefox I'm not sure if it's mandatory to have flash player or not but all of these browser plugins are available at Adobe's site,

I did find this pretty in tune tutorial, I wouldn't click on anything though,
Keep in mind this is a security related tutorial,
You might just review it because it will show you where all of the flash player setting are and how to adjust them if you wish too
How to configure your Flash Player settings for maximum privacy and security
You can also use this link to test if you already have flash Enabled to operate,

I would not recommend installing Java,
Oracle is on a quarterly update kick so it's become very unsafe to have it installed,
If you don't play allot of games chances are you don't need it as I don't have java installed either with no issues,

    Interesting reads,
But if you must at the very least Disable it when your not actually using it
