    New outlook version: don't want to download again the mails

    Dear,

    1-New laptop
    2- Installed Office 2010
    3- Configured Outlook and it is downloading all the mails from the server;

    My client don't wish to delete his emails from the server;
    is there a way so that his new outlook do not download the emails?

    Thank you

    Why would he have to delete the mail from the server?
    How is outlook configured? to gmail, yahoo or exchange etc...?

    Exchange for example...
    If outlook is configured in cached exchange mode it will download a local copy of the emails on first use.
    If outlook isn't in cached exchange mode then it will just reference the email from the server in real time

    Regards,
    Jamie

    Hello Jamie.

    Thank you for your reply;
    In fact, Outlook is configured in a regular way (pop, smtp); no exchange.
    Is there a way that it does not download a copy on first use?
    Thnx

    I have only ever really used Outlook within Exchange, what account are the emails stored on? is it a work server or gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc...?
