    Outlook 2007-Trouble Sending E-mail-ISP Can't Help

I never had trouble setting up Outlook with Vista or XP. However, I have not been able to get Outlook 2007 to send e-mail. I am not sure if it is a problem with Outlook because when I use Thunderbird, I also cannot send e-mail. Windows Live Mail also cannot send e-mail.

    My ISP is Windstream
Here is link to server settings:

    Windstream.net

Pretty cut and dry. smtp.windstream.net for Outgoing
    POP.Windstream.net for Incoming

I have no trouble receiving e-mail-just sending it???

Any idea what could be happening? As I said, no issues with Outlook when using XP/Vista-just when I migrated to Windows 7.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Have you set SMTP authentication in Outlook to use the same settings you log on with? Are you aware that Windstream requires SMTP authentication?

    Hi there
check firewall settings and av software as well.
Default W7 firewall settings are more restrictive than XP etc.

    Cheers

As per the previous post I think you need to check you can connect to port 25 (smtp) outbound. You could check this by opening a telnet session to a mailserver, e.g

    telnet gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com 25

You should get an smtp banner if all is ok :)
