Just updated in Win7 x64 and the update is stuck in a never ending loop?

Firefox attempts to open, but then pops up a box "Software Update Failed". Inside that box it says "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again."

Click the okay button, Firefox tries to open, and this same box opens, a hopelessly ending loop.

Tried running as 'administrator' and same problem?

Went to Mozilla directory and the firefox.exe has been backed up to firefox.exe.backup, with no other executable present.

I renamed file back to firefox.exe and now Firefox works but will not update, the update runs fine and restarts Firefox, but version 3.05 is still showing as version I'm using?

Tried deleting 'update' directory and update xml files, no go, same problem.

Downloaded Firefox 3.06 and reinstalled over 3.05 and it all seems to be working again, dammed annoying as to what was causing it to loop after an auto update?

Oh well, its working now lol

Good to hear you got it to work. I've never had a problem like that updating FF.
