Title fonts in all web browsers viewing as open face fonts error

This started around the 1st of September. It seems like the title/headline fonts across all browsers, Firefox, IE and Chrome, has changed to an open face style font. I'm note sure what font it is. There was a windows update KB 2993651 that corresponded to my issue. I did a system restore to a point previous to this update and the problem went away.

Today the problem returned. There have been no updates or changes made to my system to make the fonts revert back to an open face style. Since it's across all browsers I think it has to be a windows issue and not browser related.

I did try changing the default fonts in google but it did not help. I also tried restoring the default font in the windows control panel, no help in the fact that the restore system font button grayed out and did'nt do anything.

I ran a full virus scan and no virus' were detected. I am not sure how to solve this

    See attached image.

    Thank you for your help

    Hi,

    Have you added/installed any fonts?
If you have try removing them and see if the issue goes away, i had this issue a while a go and it was a font i had installed.

    c:\windows\fonts

It would be worth checking that location and sorting by date modified, is there anything new at the top/recent?

    Regards,

    Hi Jamie,

The last font I installed was around the 15th of August. A good 2 weeks before I started to have my issue. With that said, I tried to uninstall the font and I can't! I get a message that the font is in use by another program. But it's not...... I rebooted in safe mode to try to delete and it still wont go away. Same message, "in use by another program"

So I'm thinking it'd definitely a font based issue. I tried deleting another font and I get the same message....

My font folder is in read only, so I tried to remove the restriction and it wont allow me to do that either... and I am logged in as the admin.

    Thanks for your post

Can you try renaming the font... if it lets you, then try removing it.

I just tried that and indeed I was able to delete the font. But the browser problem still exists even after a reboot
