Can't Download anything Using IE11, but can with other Browsers

    Hello!

I've seen some similar posts on this Forum, but haven't come across a fix for it yet. As the title states, I (Users Laptop) Can't Download anything Using IE11, but can with Chrome. When a different user logs onto the computer, they can download using IE. I suspect the profile is the issue, but why would IE be the only thing that a "corrupted profile" is displaying? No other issues are present, but the IE11 issue. The issues seem to have started last week when the user installed window updates and possibly a couple program updates. The Window updates were installed company wide and no known issues have been seen on other computers.

    What I've tried:
    I've tried resetting IE
Uninstalling and reinstalling of 11 and even 10
    Ran sfc scannow
    Did disk check
Scanned with Malwarebytes, rkill, adwcleaner, others
    Ran various Microsoft Fix It's
    Swore a bunches of times
I might have left some out as I've tried so many things.

Truly stuck. Is it possible that a corrupted profile would only have that one issue? Just seems odd that a bad profile would just have one issue like this.

The laptop belongs to management and therefore its difficult at times to gain access to. I usually get time when he goes to lunch or is in a meeting.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

    Scott

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
You know I'm sure allot of people wished swearing worked
Corruption comes from numerous places downloads profile editing.....

The easiest thing is to create a new admin profile and not let anyone else use it for any reason
    Being it's company machine :/

    Close ie,
    Use Winkey+R
Paste this into the run box and Okay,
    iexplore.exe -extoff
    Test,
    Cheers.

Hi which third party security suite is being used ?
    Use Clean boot,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/179159-troubleshoot-application-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,

If still not joy use Safe mode with networking,
    Safe mode with networking,
    Shut down your machine,
Power up and Tap the F8 key continuously until you see a black page with white text,
Use the down arrow key to toggle to safe mode with networking/ hit the enter key.

Thanks again TrashZone for your suggestions. We use Kaspersky AV and that has been ruled out in this case. I will try what you said as soon as I can get my hands on the laptop. I have a feeling the laptop will be off site today, but will report back when I can work on it.

    Thanks,

    Scott

    Hi Kaktussoft!

The first error message that appeared states the following: Your Current Security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded.

That message went away after making some changes to the security settings in IE.

Now when you try to download something, it downloads to the point where it appears it's about to either finish downloading or about to be scanned for viruses. The following message appears in the download window: xxx couldn't be downloaded. Then IE will freeze up and crash.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I had reset the internet security zone and enabled download files. I'm not sure why enable files was set to disable as I had checked it other times and it was enabled. After I did that I could download a file up until I think it was about to finish and then the: xxx couldn't be downloaded.

I'm hoping today that I'll be able to get my hands on this laptop. It's our quarterly update time and the user is involved with those presentations, so I might have to wait until next week.

    Thanks for all your help.
