Windows 7: Can't run Chrome

Can't run Chrome

My friends W7 laptop all of a sudden wouldn't go online without crashing browsers, Chrome, Firefox and IE. He bought a new laptop and gave me the old one. I ran the recovery partition which re-formatted/re-installed windows. Oddly enough, I still can't run Chrome without it immediately crashing. Firefox works good, IE works good, but Chrome immediately crashes. How can this problem still be there after a re-format?

Factory recovery partition won't usually do much good now all of the pre-installed junkware is expired and not to mention corruption can very well corrupt the recovery partition as well,
