IE9 running in the background windows 7

I have IE9 and it is continuously running in the background. I did have IE11 and it was doing the same thing. I have run AVG, Malwarebytes, Adaware and Microsoft Security Scanner and IE still runs in the background. I did remove Internet Explorer completely and Windows Explorer started running multiple sessions. I have used task manager to end task and after stopping all it starts to run in the background again. I think that this may have started fro an update since this has only been happening for the past few months. Anything that was detected has been removed and IE9 still runs in the back ground. I believe that someone has a reasonable answer and cure for this problem.

Reset IE, then upgrade to IE11 again. By running in the background, it shows in task manager as a process correct? Have you tried right clicking it and choosing open containing folder? Where does it go?

    Warning
Doing the following will reset internet explorer, and will lose all saved passwords and settings

You can try this as another option:

    Internet Explorer - Reset

    Worded steps:

Open Control panel. - Network and internet. - internet options - advanced - Reset - Check the box to delete personal settings - Click reset. Click ok. Restart the PC.

Open internet explorer. How does it act now?

1.) Download herdprotect: (choose the portable version)

Download herdProtect - Free Anti-Malware Platform

    2.) Run the scan.

3.) When the scan finishes, save the results per the screenshot below. Then upload the log here.

DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING YET. I will advise if anything needs removed when I receive the log.

When I go to reset IE there isn't any "reset" option.
I did run herdprotect and it was good for one day but IE is running in the background again. Herdprotect is a good program and I am going to run it once a month.
I did ruin herdprotecct again but it found nothing this time.
I know there is a solution to this problem and I would like to solve it and stop IE from running in the background.

You did not remove anything that herdprotect found the first time right? I have it bolded to post the log, which you did not do.

Please post a screenshot of the advanced tab of internet explorer. You have to have a reset button, its there.

I did run Herdprotect. I did post the log but I guess it didn't stay, I will find it and repost.
After Herdprotect ran IE stopped running i the background. Then this morning it started running again. I did find the reset and did that. It stopped IE from running for about an hour and it started again.
I have attached the scan file.

You have a lovely infection of conduit.

Ok please follow these directions exactly:

1.) Download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool

    • Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Upload the contents of that logfile in your next reply using the paper clip on the reply box.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

    2.) Using AdwCleaner v3: Scan & Clean:

Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool again.
    Click on the Scan button.
AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer like it did before.
    After the scan has finished...

This time click on the Clean button.
Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
Upload the contents of that logfile in your next reply using the paper clip on the reply box.

    Junkware Removal tool:

3.) Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

    • Shutdown your antivirus to avoid any conflicts.
    • Right click over JRT.exe and select Run as administrator on Windows Vista or Windows 7, double-click on XP.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Upload the contents of that logfile in your next reply using the paper clip on the reply box.
    • When completed make sure to re-enable your antivirus

I uploaded the reports from adwcleaner. The JRT did nothing. It backed up 9 files and then closed. So far I do not see IE starting in the background but now I have COM Surrogate running (dllhost.exe) I can stop them quickly enough but I wonder why this has started. If the IE running in the background problem is solved that will be great. I will know tomorrow if it really has. I don't know what the JRT is suppose to do but it did nothing on my system. I did run it as administrator but it didn't do anything. I don't have a virus program loaded but will reinstall after I send this.

For your antivirus program, use the free panda antivirus as your av and do a full scan. Remove anything found.

Free Antivirus Download - Panda Cloud Antivirus

Once that is done, restart the pc and lets move to malwarebytes.

    ________________________________________________________________________________________

Let see what else is going on here:

1.) Download malwarebytes anti malware found here:

    https://www.malwarebytes.org/

    Choose the Free version download.

2.) After it downloads, run the installation and install it.

    3.) After install, open malwarebytes.

    Choose to update now.

When your updated, you should see something like this in the screenshot:

4.) Then choose to run a scan after updates complete.

    5.)
After the scan completes, Remove anything found. Restart the computer.

6.) Open malwarebytes. Click the history button.

    Then Click on application logs.

Choose the latest scan log, and click the view button.

Click on the export button, then choose text file. Save it somewhere.

7.) Post your results by using the paperclip and upload the log.

I started to download Panda but it says it will take 9 hours to download. That's not going to happen. IE was stopped yesterday but is back with a vengeance today. I am going to download Malwarebytes and see what that does.
Downloading all these programs without a permanent solution is getting nowhere. I can see that I will need to eventually do a system restore and hope that the problems are stopped.
I do appreciate all your effort and help but the problem persists.
