    IE11 update Catch 22 situation

My japanese wife got a new PC and instead of the original WIN7 swedish version that the PC had, she had WIN7 japanese version (full version sent to her by her jap. brother in law) installed. Most things went fine, but she cannot update from IE7 to IE11. Whatever we do, (even trying to download IE11 from Japan Microoft site) only swedish version of IE11 is downloaded (is it because we live in Sweden now?), but it cannot be installed, as the system language is different, according to the message we get when we try to install the IE11 update. So it´s a Catch 22 situation. Anyone with a solution?

    Hi,
    Not sure if it's a catch 22
It's most likely because you leapfrogging over three versions :/
I doubt windows 7 ever had ie7 on it,
    It comes with ie8,
But you would then go to ie9 and then ie10 and imho say there
Check for updates and right click and Hide the ie11's update and recheck for updates manually,
You should see ie10 and possibly 9 as well.
    See how ie9 loads
    Cheers.

I would ask the brother in law to download it in Japan and upload it to e.g. OneDrive from where you could get it once he gives you the link.

Thanks ThrashZone, I´ll check it out and see if it works. It is possible that the IE that came with the OS was IE8, I may be wrong.

    Hi no problem
Use the Alt key to bring up the Menubar then Help and About Internet explorer for the installed version,
Try to load the next release if ie8 go to ie9 ....

I actually like whs's suggestion but that one relies on the same system to get the same download 32bit 64 bit deal,
    Cheers.

I´m afraid it does not work, even if I click to install IE9, the download automatically jumps to IE11, th3e difference being that either english or swedish version of IE11 is downloaded, but the installation is still refused in both cases on grounds of IE11 language different from the system language. I´ll probably have to follow whs´s advice and ask our brother in law to help. However, I have just discovered that with Opera the japanese language version is automatically downloaded and installed without problems , I`ll now try Chrome too and if it works, my wife would just forget about IE11.

Thanks ThrashZone for your suggestions, being a grandpa (almost a grandgrandpa) with limited computer literacy all suggestions are appreciated. I wonder if you could have a look at my query in graphic cards (hardware acceleration alt driver issue) in graphic cards section.
By the way, back to the IE11 install problem, we could install Chrome but only its swedish version and strangely enough, it is compatible with the japanese language OS, so apparently IE has issues with the OS language and different browser language, but it may be only with non-european languages with no latin alfabet.
