Update from IE 9 to IE 11 on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    Hi All,

I've been attempting, for several months unsuccessfully to update to IE 11 on my ACER TravelMate 8172-6932.
The laptop came with W 7 Pro 64 bit CORE I5. Everything else seems to be fine, including Open Office, Outlook 2007 and the latest Chrome version. And I continue to access rss feeds through IE 9.

In a nutshell, when I try to install IE 11, I get a message that says I must have SP 1. I get a message when attempting to install SP 1 it cannot be installed on my operating system. I've always had automatic updates turned on. An aside, my wife's laptop has W 7 home and IE 11 updated from previous IE versions. Also, I have a W 7 Pro 32 bit desktop that has IE 11 from previous versions. Puzzling.

    Thanks in advance for advice.
