Problem with Windows Mail and .mui extensions

I am having difficulty importing Windows Mail into Windows 7. I followed the recommendation found elsewhere in this forum. I took ownership of the files but my WinMail file appears as WinMail.exe.mui. How can I get a simple WinMail.exe file that I can pin to my task bar? Anyone have any suggestions?

Hello Lenny, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I assume that you meant using this tutorial to import Windows Mail into Windows 7. You might see if renaming the file to just remove the .mui extension may work. These are all of the default files in the C:\Program Files\Windows Mail folder.

I tried removing .mui - nothing changed.

You may need to copy the files back over again from Vista. They should appear as they are above.

That's great news Lenny. I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted. :)

All is almost well! I can now access windows mail in windows 7, but a couple of my folders with mail are still unavailable and the ability to sort using the "Create Rule From Message" function is not working - any ideas?
