Internet Explorer 11 gone - but "is already installed on this system"

Ok, TDSSkiller looks good - still says it's waiting on KSN to return results (labs DB to check suspicious files - the heavy lifting was already done), the 2nd run should have picked up the results ?????

I'm not going to worry too much about possible threats, real threats yes. Suspicious files are usually harmless or false positives. The scanners just want to do a good job, so they over report sometimes.

If you're curious though ... the VirusTotal uploader referenced in the tutorial can be used to check files in the TDSSkiller quarantine.
For each copy in the quarantine folder - right click -> send to VirusTotal. You'll see a report in your browser that gives you some idea of the severity - ignore the happy/sad 'meter' - more important is the ratio of virus engines 2/50, 30/50). A low ratio indicates a fairly safe file, a high ration requires more investigation. It's a bit of work, but also a learning experience.

Now about IE 11.

Time for a bigger hammer!

Turn off automatic Windows update -> set it to Check for updates but let me choose...

In Control Panel -> Programs & Features
Uninstall any IE present in the list

In Windows Update -> Update history -> Installed updates
Uninstall any IE in the list

The objective is to roll back IE all the way to IE 8, so continue to uninstall IE

Let's see how far that gets you .... you might get stuck on the first uninstall since IE is the main thrust of your thread.

Post how it goes, if you get stuck, I'll try to figure out a way around it.

I thought that might be a problem - yep I read your #1 post a few times. Just wanted to make sure before digging too deep.


If any of these updates are installed, please uninstall them and restart your machine.

Some are IE 11 related and the rest are pre-requisites for IE 10. The transition from IE 9 -> IE 11 was a bit messy. MS straightened it all out, but if you got caught in the middle, there are issues (I had them and rolled back to IE 8, then up to 11)

So the smallest big hammer is to get rid of the prerequisites. If that proves fruitless, the thinking cap goes back and and we attack from a different angle.

I'm backtracking a bit. Please follow this guide to remove Speedupmy PC. It's a nuisance program.

The guide asks you to run some of the scanners you already ran, please complete the entire guide even though you ran a scanner before.

Just run the AdwCleaner and Malwarebyes (Mbam) you have on your machine - update definitions if available.

Also, could you post a screen shot of your installed programs? It might take more than one image - that's ok.

What happens if you click IE?

Or launch C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Go to Control Panel - > Internet Options -> Advnaced tab

Press the [ Reset ] button.

Then [ Ok ] out of Internet Options

What's the status - still saying already installed or - is installing?
