    IE11 will not open maximised

I have tried all manner of fixes for this wretched problem from sfc chldsk to dragging and dropping and trying to find a fix in the Advanced tab in IE Tools > net options and nothing but nothing works I either get the screen opening "maximized" meaning it opens in a slightly smaller area than the screen with the toolbars showing or have to hit the max button and it will open with the double square max button (see pic) and it will for while open in that manner before reverting back.

I know how to make it open full screen but that is not what I want.

My email (WLM) also opens with this double square max button and it is driving me nuts - any ideas anyone please?

This is a problem had by many. Give this a try. Go to search by the start button. Type internet explorer. When you see it pop up, right click the properties then run maximized. You have helped so many, hope that we could do the same for you.
    If that does not work
Open IE, stretch to the size you want, then hit the max button close. Now see if it works right.

    Hi,
That I know of full screen and Maximized are the same thing
The only difference is full screen using the F11 key does not require the mouse and works better anyway
What is your recommended resolution ?

I know of no internet option setting that will help if you can't drag and enlarge the first window to fill your screen then close and re-open ie and it remembers you size ie was last opened,
Properties of the shortcut should be Run = Normal window

Personally I would now reset advanced settings to default and also set the properties of your shortcut.
Then Internet options/ Advanced/ Use software rendering....
    Cheers.

Ok Rich thank you for the kind words and I'll try your suggestion and Ken I can get the full screen but I just like to see my toolbars and I have tried the drag / drop way it like WLM just opens with the maxed double square.

Mind you the WLM it happens flawlessly and is no problem but IE after a fairly long shut down as I don't like to leave machines running say overnight has a mind of it's own .

The resolution is 1920x1080 by the by. This is what I got this morning on power up and clicking on the WLM link and again the "rules" have changed the bottom edge s the only one out of whack and not by as much??
PS sorry the black arrow should indicate further down than it does

    Hi,
    Just an observation mind you,
But for someone who wants to use maximized the forum window your showing is barely anywhere near taking up any screen space,
Use Ctrl and the + key a couple of times to go to 150% page zoom then use the maximized button.
    Cheers.

Tried t hat in addition to all the others it just wants to open with the double max button. I suppose if it does this as a matter of course it is not really a problem eh?

PS That grey bar at the bottom with Advertising etc on it is that possible to get rid of?

    None that I know of,
For the record that double square box is to show you your using maximized so it is normal I never use it because the F11 key is easier to use,
Seeing your on a laptop I would think you would also see it as easier to activate and exit,
F11 acts the same way if pointed at or Alt your toolbars... will reappear

Ok mate it really doesn't matter if I click the double it reverts back to the single button (same screen content) and the WLM "peeks" through at the bottom but it is ok as long it opens in the double square max button.

    Hi,
If anything live mail seems to be the one with the problem,
Because it does not have any indication Maximized is being used,
But what is maximized anyway ?
From what I've noticed all it does is remove the window border if the window has already been dragged to fill the screen :/

Toolbars are not even removed or the taskbar ? so I suppose it depends on if you have a really small window like a popup window like windows snap produces if you drag to one side or the other to go half screen,
If you hit the Maximized button the window will fill the screen without a border,

F11 will do the same thing except all toolbars and even the taskbar will be out of site.

So I ask which one is truly full screen or maximized ? seems F11 produces a better result to me all toolbars and taskbar reappear if a mouse is pointed at the top or bottom of either area :)
    Cheers.

Grey Bar - bottom of page

Might be possible by changing useragent string but it just moves elsewhere on the page. As it's IE - personally I'd leave it as it is. I see the same grey bar in my browser but if I swap useragents I get various results depending on the useragent selected. Changing useragent can cause some features on some websites not to work.
