Bookmarks are missing from the bookmark icon

When I click on this Icon a blank page appears. However I must have made a copy and I found it in my downloads folder. I manage to drag them to my desktop for the time being. But I would prefer to have the bookmark icon operating correctly. I have windows 7 and EI 11. I also cannot add any websites to bookmarks if that's any help.

Is there any error message ie of all versions have favorites not bookmarks did you import from Chrome or Firefox ?

I usually go to my user folder and add a new one to it and place items in it instead of using the default folders structure,
Reason why is that if you reset internet explorer favorites might get removed,
if you add your own folder in there it is unaffected by a reset,

If interested
Internet Explorer - Import and Export Favorites
Click Start and click on your user name near the top (not your picture)
Open the favorites folder,
I can't remember the default structure but all I actually have is a Bookmarks folder (yes it originally came from exporting from Chrome or google toolbar)
And the Favorites Bar folder and that's it.

You can copy and paste hyperlinks in it,
You might get a uac prompt that these might harm your computer okay :/ Next

Thanks, But I finally got it working properly. I avoided downloading the yahoo tool bar initially because I was afraid it would remove the rest of the files on the tool bar. So after a long trial and error process, I finally decided to download it. That fix the problem. Also the control panel has a feature on all the programs whereas one can delete, change or repair and I had forgotten about it.
