    Importing messages to MS Outlook

Since upgrading to win7 i've been trying to use oeclassic to replace OE but it's not going that well so i thought i'd try Outlook as i have an old office suite from XP that works. I just want to set up Outlook to use as close as possible to OE and i have managed to import my emails and folders from oeclassic. (I had to install Windows Live Mail first and do the migration via WLM because oeclassic had converted my dbx files to eml.)

The problem is that when i try to open any of these historic emails i get "The custom form could not be opened. Outlook will use an Outlook form instead. The object could not be found". It all seems to work OK, just this damn message every time.

No doubt i will have further problems as i try to acheive my objective and if anyone anticipates any or has any tips i would be glad to hear them. But for now, can anyone help me past this initial hurdle. Until i get the basics out of the way i have not set up my mail account to connect with the mail server.

    Thanks

You can't install Outlook Express on Windows 7 I've tried for a long time. If you have Outlook Express and Outlook on the same computer you can import all emails.

Outlook - File/Import Export, select import internet emails and address and select OE6 in the next box, job done. This doesn't work if the computers are networked. You can export to PST and save the file on a flash drive and import them into another computer.

Thanks for the reply, but i'm not trying to install OE on win7.

And i can't import emails to outlook from OE6 because it's no longer there. My emails are now in oeclassic in eml format.

Actually, having imported them to Windows Live Mail solely for the purpose of exporting them to Outlook, i find that WLM is actually very similar to OE and pretty much what i was trying to achieve with Outlook. So i think i'll probably just stick with that.
