    DNS Issues?

I use IE 11 and have been since the day it came out. Last evening I watched a webcast of the last Dead show (irrelevant but a great show) everything worked fine. This morning I had no internet access. All the diagnostics said I was connected to the internet. We just moved into a place with WiFi already setup. I activated my VPN and set it up to send me somewhere in Northern California. Every thing works fine. For S&G I disconnected from The VPN and everything was NOT working again. So, I'm back on VPN. What saith thee oh great ones? Did my DNS server get fouled or could it be something else. As always comments or flames welcome.
    Tnx,

Try disconnect from VPN and set DNS to 8.8.8.8, see if it works. Possible DNS is at fault.
Also ping 8.8.8.8 when you disconnect from VPN, see if you get replies.

It may be the Wireless Router assigning a faulty DNS. And sometimes ISP DNS servers act up.

The plot gets stranger. In the middle of doing nothing, I mean screen saver active, I was doing nothing but drinking coffee and contemplating my next move, I got a BSOD. I turned the computer off with the button. Waited half a minute and started up again. Internet access is fine now. Don't need the VPN to connect, DNS working just fine now. Serious? Major crash fixed the issues?
    I'm happy but confused.

Possible DNS caching was causing issues

Restarting the PC, refreshed those settings? Did you restart PC after having the connection issues or was it running all the time (until BSOD)?

Actually, I'd rebooted several times before the BSOD occurrence. That's actually the 1st thing I'd tried. I'm still investigating.
