After Windows updates, a website forum I visit resets me to 0 Visits
After Windows automatically updates my laptop, a website I frequently visit resets me to 0 visits. I can't post replies until I have visited 5 times and can't start threads until I've visited over 20 times. This happens every time Windows updates. Does anyone know why this happens? Is there anything I can do to prevent this? It's very frustrating.

You might want to ask the website that you are visiting why this is happening. That website should not be using any "visit count" system that could be messed up via browser updates.

Thanks for answering! This is the only website forum I have posted on and didn't know the "visit count" was unusual since it is easy to see under "settings" on their site the number of times I have visited. I have asked them a couple of times about this but have gotten no response yet. I guess I'll have to try them again.

If they do not reply, then you might need to develop a work around.
e.g. does the visit count on that website increase if you reload the webpage? Or, do you have to close your browser, wait a bit and then visit the website again to get an increase? Or, do you have to sign out and then sign in again to get an increase? You might also try using a different web browser. e.g. use Chrome for that website and Internet Explorer for every other website. It is usually a good idea to have more than one web browser installed in case one gets so messed up that you cannot surf anywhere. You can use the other browser to help you find solutions to why the primary web browser has failed. |

I have noticed a pattern of this happening after some updates and thought that was causing it to reset the "visit count", but that could be coincidence and maybe the resetting is coming strictly from the website itself and is not because of the Windows updates. Strange and irritating...

I did download Chrome and am using it and Internet Explorer to go on the website and will see if both go to 0 visits next time. Thanks for the suggestions. You helped a lot.
I'm trying to see where to mark this as solved now, lol. |

Windows 7 appears twice on the boot menu; resets updates Hello. I had some trouble a while back and ended up doing a repair install. This has resulted in me having 2 options for Windows 7 on my boot menu. Near as I can tell they are the same, but Windows updates don't "take" on the first one. And if I use the second W7 option, those updates will... |
